Abstract

|
A spontaneous outbreak of infection with Corynebacterium kutscheri(C. kutscheri) occurred in a rat colony.
Clinical signs were inappetence, nasal and ocular encrustination, emaciation, hyperpnea, gangrene of tail and pododermatitis. Characteristic autopsy sign was grayish-Sellow foci, 1 to 15㎜ in diameter, scattered in the lung. Gram positive diphtheroids were isolated from the pulmonary lesions and identified as Corynebacterium kutscheri.
